N.Y. Mayor is confused and can't get out of his own way!

Hi "Firearms Aficionados"! - welcome to another entry on SHOOTING.BLOGSPOT.COM,

Oh boy, this sounds awfully exciting - NO WAY! Bloomberg has got his panties in a wad over guns - AGAIN! Look what he is subjecting his City to??? He even dragged Boston's mayor in on the antics now.

One quote that is true, but their solution is WAY OFF BASE - "Gun crime is a national problem that needs a national response," - the response (solution) that needs to be seen and heard is let us all carry, concealed, and do what is commonly done in Israel - many of the would-be bombers in Israel are actually stopped by the pistol packin` Israeli CITIZENS - not their elite Police. No matter what you do, there will be bad people doing bad things. How about we arm the masses and let them dispose of the bad ones - not in an abusive manner, but in simple self defense and in defense of other innocents?

It is truly sad when a child is hurt or killed - by any sort of manner - and it is especially sad for us who are fighting the good fight to save this country from the WHACKOs who THINK they know what is best for us. PUHLEEEEEEEEEEZE! Leave us alone, let us get on with our lives, let us keep our guns, and our money, and stay out of our collective way.

N.Y. Mayor Hosts Gun Control Summit

By DESMOND BUTLER

Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK (AP) - Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino criticized the federal government at a mayors summit Tuesday for not doing enough to stop the spread of illegal guns.

"If the leadership won't come from Congress or from the White House, it will have to come from us," said Bloomberg, who headed the event with Menino that was billed as the first-ever national gun summit of mayors.

Bloomberg has focused on gun control as a priority for his second term. Crime statistics show the number of shootings this year is slightly lower than last year, but high-profile gun deaths _ like that of a toddler killed by a stray bullet on Easter Sunday _ continue to hold a spotlight on the issue.

Menino said he met recently with a sixth grade class in Boston in which nine out of 10 pupils said they knew where they could find a gun. The 73 homicides in Boston last year marked the highest number in 10 years, he said.

"Gun crime is a national problem that needs a national response," Menino said, noting that many guns used in Boston murders last year came from other states.

The mayors summit hopes to create a loose coalition that will trade crimefighting information, work together on city and state legislation and form a louder voice in Washington.

Attendees at the summit included mayors from Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Dallas, Milwaukee and Seattle. Also attending were mayors from Providence, R.I., Hartford, Conn., Trenton, N.J., Jersey City, N.J., Buffalo, N.Y. and Rochester, N.Y.

bad week for 2nd Amendment supporters - don't worry!

Hello fellow shooters (firearms aficionados),

Seems to have been a bad week for us in the news. The preacher's wife shoots her husband in Tennessee, Tom DeLay loses his CCW in Texas (as a result of his felony indictment) and now some idiot at an all-nighter decides to open fire on a bunch of other party-goers. Apparently it was a "zombie party" and the shooter used a shotgun.

In the article I read on FOXNEWS.com, there were many "scare" statements, but the one that is meant to scare the parents is this one;
The home, which according to King County property records is owned by a man named D. Gregg Doyle, is just a few blocks from Miller Community Center, where Little League baseball games were under way Saturday morning.

Clearly, all they wanted to do was scare you into thinking that had this loser not blown his own brains out, he would have marched right down to the ball fields and started/continued shooting. That is CRAP! Plain and simple. Since he killed himself, the only hope anyone has of knowing why this guy did this is possibly a note or some stuff on his computer, or maybe in his truck?

It is always unfortunate to hear about these sorts of things in our circle, but it happens and we must acknowledge that there are evil and stupid people out there. They not only kill people, hurt people and do harm to themselves, they also hurt America.

We all will now have to suffer through the hours and hours of Brady-bunch anti-gun people, "the mommies" and a host of others who hate our guns espousing their oh-so virtuous idea of taking the guns away.

Then, the preacher's wife - goodness, does that seem a little out of whack? The lady is married to a church of Christ preacher right in the middle of the Bible belt and she hauls off and kills him - with a gun! Now, most Christians I know, even here on the "Left Coast" have a tendency to support gun ownership, or at least no more of the "take them away now" laws. Now this lady does this! ARGH!

Well, it is what it is, and it was not the gun that killed him. She pulled the trigger, and as we ALL know, guns don't shoot on their own.

Tom's license - well, I do not know the details of his indictment, but a felony is a felony, so as bad as it may be for him, losing his license is an unfortunate consequence. Remember though - this does not mean he feels any different about guns. It just means that he can't carry it concealed. Don't let them "Lefties" try to tell you anything else.

Here's a tidbit to stick in your back pocket and whip out if you are stuck with anyone trying to tell you that the "Brady-bunch" are great people and they would never get near a gun, take a look at this quote;

"And I can't describe how I felt when I picked up that rifle,
loaded it into my little car, and drove home. It seemed so
incredibly strange: Sarah Brady, of all people, packing heat."
- source: "A Good Fight", Sarah Brady, chapter 21, page 223
of first edition hardback, ISBN 1-58648-105-3

Seems odd, doesn't it? Sarah Brady talking about herself "packing heat" as she describes it. Frankly, my guns are rather cold most of the time - except for at the range. :-)

Anyway - I tend to ramble, but it will always be about guns, so maybe it is not actually rambling???

Here is the latest about guns on the "Left Coast";

Back to basics

Hi all,
Sorry for the long delay in getting to this blog. Life seemingly gets in the way!

Well, I am working hard on getting back to basics and I am certainly missing the shooting sports. It has been raining here for what seems to be an eternity and my shooting habit has suffered. I am working on clearing out my workshop and getting it set up for reloading. Reloading is something I have not done yet and I am looking forward to this new phase of my shooting life!

I am sure many of you probably "roll your own" and are experts, or at least good at it. I will be sharing the experience with you and will even get some pictures up here in the next few weeks once it is all set up.

Also, as the weather improves I will get back to the shooting range and reacquaint myself with my lovely Springfield Operator and my reliable and fun Springfield XD-40.

Happy Shooting!
Jim
